This simple and tasty applesauce is a favorite in my family—especially for those who don’t like the canned stuff! Perfect as a snack or side dish.
4 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
¾ cup water
¼ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Prepare the ingredients:
Gather all ingredients.
Cook the apples:
In a saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Mash the apples:
Let the cooked apple mixture cool slightly. Mash with a fork or potato masher until you reach your preferred texture—smooth or chunky.
Serve:
Enjoy warm or chilled as a healthy snack or side dish.
For extra flavor and natural sweetness, try adding a splash of fresh lemon juice or a pinch of nutmeg while cooking. If you prefer a smoother texture, blend the cooled applesauce briefly in a food processor or blender.
